The study sought to examine the usage of social media (SM) and its effect on the behavior and psychology of mid-adolescents in the Kumasi Metropolis in Ashanti Region. It employed descriptive design for the study. Stratified sampling and simple random techniques were used to select participants for the study. A self-developed questionnaire was used to collect data from the participants. The sample size for the study was 309. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics.  The study found that most of the students spend more time chatting whiles majority believe that they feel lonely when they not on social media. There was no significant result existed among the time spent on social media and students studying behaviour. The F-ratio was recorded as F (df1=3, df2=306) =.843, p<.05, n=309, Sig. = .068, 2-tailed). It is recommended that the management of schools in Kumasi should have policies or rules that regulate the use of social media by students. Students should be restricted from using social media during class sessions, lectures and other academic activities.
